| Position: Project Lead Engineer Location: Leighton Buzzard Duration: Permanent Salary: Dependant upon applicant The Role My Client an International pioneering and leading organisation whom are a 1st tier suppliers to a number of major airlines and manufacturers have the opportunity to invest in to their team. My client are looking for a dedicated Project Lead Engineer, reporting to the Engineering Manager whilst conversing and providing service to Program managers. You will be Responsible for the timely production and release of the approved engineering data pack in support of the project milestones and technical deliverables. Provides input to the Work Breakdown Structure and programme schedule to enable accurate Cost Account Management. Local coordination of multi-discipline teams consisting of the following roles: • Design Engineers • Certification Engineers Key Responsibilities • Lead the engineering team(s) to ensure that all engineering development (NRE) activities are completed in a timely manner in accordance with defined cost and schedule constraints (including meeting intermediate milestones, such as Design Reviews) to support overall project schedule. • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues through internal guidance and communications, as well as escalating where appropriate. • Ensure that the proposed solution is capable of meeting all the necessary airworthiness requirements. • Ensure maintenance of high quality within the engineering design data pack at all times, minimising rework wherever possible; including design drawings, certification documentation, Service Bulletins and CMM updates. • Responsibility for budget control and monitoring / reporting used project hours v actual. • Involvement within the quote process to buy into project hours / test costs etc • Adherence to departmental policies and procedures at all times, to ensure compliance under the guidelines of the airworthiness agencies. • Support the overall SAO business for growth and profit margin objectives. • Impart an ethos of commitment to high quality and continuous improvement throughout the engineering function, supported by monthly metrics (KPIs). • Take on other duties as required to support the overall business needs Person Specification: Educational Requirements • Engineering / Technical degree in Aerospace or related engineering field. Knowledge / Experience • Experience of managing multi-discipline technical teams. • Experience of technical engineering, design approvals, configuration management, manufacturing, product support. • Familiarity of product development programs (NPI) including formal design reviews. • Familiarity with industry standard Programme Management techniques. • In-depth knowledge of aircraft interiors. • Knowledge of EASA Part 21 subpart J, FAR 25.562 • Experience of Airbus and Boeing interior interface requirements. • Experience of current design tools and processes as well as appropriate manufacturing techniques, including materials selection. • Experience of managing multi-discipline technical teams. • Experience of technical engineering, design approvals, configuration management, manufacturing, product support. • Familiarity of product development programs (NPI) including formal design reviews. • Familiarity with industry standard Programme Management techniques. • In-depth knowledge of aircraft interiors. • Knowledge of EASA Part 21 subpart J, FAR 25.562 • Experience of Airbus and Boeing interior interface requirements. • Experience of current design tools and processes as well as appropriate manufacturing techniques, including materials selection. • Strong understanding of manufacturing techniques for assessment and resolution of technical issues. • Understanding of MRP and ERP. • EASA Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) (Existing or capability within 1 year). • Competency with MS Office packages.
