Position:Technical Lead/Design Authority
My client has entered the next phase of its exciting evolution as a world class and dominant defence company. The growing workload has created exciting opportunities within Electronic Engineering for Technical Leads to lead multi-disciplinary teams in the design and delivery of sub-Systems.
The successful candidate will be the design authority for specific electronics units and will lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to define, develop, verify, qualify and manufacture the units. Interfaces to various stakeholders, such as the project core team and other functional entities will need to be managed effectively to ensure the products are delivered in a timely manner and will integrate to the other parts of the system.
The role is substantially technical, although an amount of project and functional management (of electronics assigned resources) will be required. The role is an ideal way to gain visibility across the company and gain hands-on experience of complex equipment development. The role is also suitable for those wanting to progress into larger team leadership roles and who can clearly demonstrate the ability to lead smaller technical teams.

You and Your Skills
High performing teams need high performing and competent leaders. To be suitable for this role, Individuals will be able to demonstrate a significant number of the following attributes:
Proven relevant electronics design experience (likely to be the design of 3 or 4 complex electronic items using the latest technologies), preferably for harsh environments (EMC, Vibration, thermal).
*Proven ability to manage the development and delivery of electronic equipment including associated technologies (mechanical, safety …) through all stages of the development process
*Ideally degree qualified
*Planning and organisation skills with a record of delivering to time and cost
*Strong negotiating and influencing skills;
*Strong communication skills with the ability to network and influence across stakeholders including other cultures
*Self-starter with drive, energy and enthusiasm and a clear focus on delivery and results.
This is a technically focused leadership role that includes some planning and people development activities.
